ART OF THE IN-BETWEEN; A DAY AT THE MUSEUM
After MET Gala, I’ve made it a tradition to visit The MET museum to experience the Costume Institute’s fashion exhibition examining the work of the honoree of the gala. As usual, it didn’t disappoint! (Also this day we got hit by non-stop rain in New York, so what’s more perfect than a day at the museum?)
This year the honoree was Rei Kawakubo and her designs for Comme des Garçons. The exhibition featured over 100 examples of women wear, with Kawakubo’s signature avant-garde, sculptural, out-of-the-box design. Matching the title of the show, it definitely played with the in-betweeness of fashion. And this is what I love about it; the unexpected. My favorite was definitely the pink wonder of a dress which most of all reminded me of the most beautiful Geisha’s clothing. Also, who doesn’t love pink?
We spent the whole afternoon strolling around the enormous museum checking out all the different art (and shooting some Instagrams of course). It’s such an amazing space, and I would highly recommend checking out this exhibition (if not all of them).
